Self-Portrait

The title announces a self-portrait, yet the face is not the centre of the image. Anatomical fragments, eyes, organic forms and almost mechanical structures interlock within a dense composition organised around the red of a no-entry sign. The body and face seem to disperse into their surroundings. The self-portrait no longer relies on resemblance: identity emerges through assemblage, through the elements that make up this inner space.
