Motherhood

Oil on canvas · 30 × 30 cm · 1998 · Signed

A compact mass of curves occupies the centre of the canvas. A maternal body embraces her child, yet the two figures do not immediately appear as distinct individuals. Their contours merge, their bodies blend together, and motherhood becomes a knot of pictorial matter. The embrace draws them so close that the boundary between the two bodies becomes uncertain.

Unique piece, handmade by the artist. Signed certificate of authenticity included.
