Self-portrait

A seated figure, seen from behind, stands out against a dark blue background. The face remains invisible. The self-portrait is therefore conveyed not through the facial features that would allow identification, but through the body itself: the back, the nape of the neck, the posture and the way the figure occupies the space. To portray oneself becomes less a matter of showing one’s face than of recognising one’s own body.
