Self-Portrait as Baron Samedi

The figure is seen from below, beneath a fabricless umbrella whose frame takes on a skeletal quality and whose function has been displaced. Baron Samedi forms a counterpart to Catrina. The face is concealed behind the signs of the ritual role — hat and glasses — assuming the function of a guide between worlds. The work places the artist in a role of accompaniment.
